Rich Malaysian Chinese families have spent decades growing wealth on the back of opportunity, circumstance and politico-business acumen, but without proper feng shui awareness, a family’s carefully accumulated wealth could be wiped out in a single blow, once they shifted into feng shui energy depleted bungalow.

For last few weeks, I have slow down my blog article posting as I need to concentrate on 2 cases of Bungalow Feng Shui, one in Kuala Lumpur and one in Penang. Both belong to super rich families yet very low profile….. These 2 families share a similar economic background, where the owner in their 50-s are the third generation of inheriting ancestral wealth.
The same scenario shared by two families are :
- The family luck and wealth started to deplete/reduce/ drain up / use up by 3rd generation at their 40-s.
- Condition getting from worse to worst after buying and shifting to BIG Bungalow.
The so-called three-generation trap 富不过三代 transcends boundaries and cultures. This also happens in Malaysia. A poorly educated but business savvy individual creates a family fortune through hard work and traditional values. The second generation, better educated and sensitive to their patriarch’s values and beliefs, consolidates and builds on that wealth.
The third generation, still better educated and exposed to a much different world than their forebears, has less interest in family values and tradition, and proceeds to squander that wealth. It is so prevalent that every region has an expression for it and in Asia it is called ‘from rice paddy to rice paddy in three generations’.
Nevertheless, in these cases, their financial status become worse after shifting into the bungalow many years back.
In this article, the main concern is to warn property investors about the possibility of buying a depleted feng shui bungalow. The market value of a property does not tell the value of its feng shui condition…..
The second concern is to share with you that old saying ” Family Wealth Would Never Transcend More than 3 Generations” 富不过三代 really happens in our real life, although this is NOT 100%…. yet, the percentage is more than 70% from my years long observation….
I do notice those from that 30% who are free from the “curse” of Family Wealth Would Never Transcend More Than 3 Generations. You could find those families live happily in Penang Island but very low profile. You could also find them in Ipoh, and sub-urban in Kuala Lumpur according to my knowledge…..
You may see this kind of third generation “wealth depletion” syndrome from feng shui perspective. However, you would get a better idea and picture if you see this out of the “box of feng shui”.
